Photorejuvenation

Benefits

With an aging population interested in non-invasive, reliable and safe procedures to look younger, many physicians are purchasing skin rejuvenation systems to meet this increasing demand. Skin rejuvenation is a treatment to reduce mild wrinkling, broken capillaries, vascular and pigmented lesions, brown spots, enlarged pores and rosacea. Depending on your skin condition, Photo Rejuvenation may be combined with LASER, for improving texture, tone and sun damaged skin.

Expectations Following Treatment

Immediately following a treatment, brown spots/discolourations will start to darken and your skin may appear slightly pink. This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or two. During a time span of one to three weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade and facial capillaries or diffused redness will decrease.

What equipment is used to perform this procedure?

We utilize the state-of-the-art Lumenis IPL Photorejuvenation system. Dr Tomi and his highly trained and skilled staff are experienced with the IPL Photorejuvenation system and with other laser procedures offered at our cosmetic clinic (permanent laser hair removal, laser skin resurfacing for wrinkles or sun damage).

Is the procedure painful?

You will experience a slight sensation as the pulses of therapeutic light are passed over your skin. The sensation is very mild and easily tolerated. Topical anaesthetic creams are not required.

How many treatments are required?

A series of treatments is determined after consultation with Dr. Tomi. Treatments are scheduled approximately four to six weeks apart.

How long do the results last?

The results achieved from the treatment series can be expected to last for possibly several years or longer. However, with the passage of time and with environmental exposure, skin ages as we do. IPL Photorejuvenation will provide benefits and significantly reverse many of the visible signs of sun-damaged skin. The improvement that has been achieved following a first series of treatments can be maintained by occasional single maintenance treatments.

What improvement will be noticed after a series of treatments is finished?

Skin will look refreshed and rejuvenated. Improvement in tone and texture of skin is experienced. A significant reduction of brown and red areas of discoloration, small red blood vessels (spider veins) and irregular areas of pigmentation occurs. Pore size is reduced by one third. A reduction of red discoloration will be evident in individuals with rosacea or abnormal flushing. Skin looks more beautiful following IPL Photorejuvenation.

Do I require a consultation before I schedule a treatment?

Yes. We require that you be seen in consultation prior to your first Photorejuvenation treatment. Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive medical procedure. Your skin must be assessed by Dr. Tomi prior to scheduling your first treatment. You will benefit from the experienced assessment of a qualified trusted dermatologist. During your consultation any specific concerns or questions will be addressed. The procedure is a skill dependent procedure and results are related to various factors including the technique and skill of the operator. Excellent follow-up care is a trade mark of Alphaderm.
